Zion Canyon National Park

If you want me to read to you instead of reading with your eyes, that’s an option:
Kyle and I went to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National park in Utah in March. It felt very much as if I took my brain out of my skull and let it breathe for a minute. It was very nice. Highly recommend taking your brain out of your skull, if given the chance.
I’m always representing Cuyahoga Valley National Park when visiting other National Parks.

Did you know that Butch Cassidy, the outlaw of yore, hand-picked two hundred other outlaws to form an organized gang that targeted corporations and big business? I didn’t until I listened to this podcast while driving across Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
Now I’m asking: what happened to Etta Place? and better yet, who was Etta Place?

READ IT.
Check out LUCKY RED by Claudia Cravens for a Yippie-yi-o, outlaw, WLW, hoot-tootin-scootin’ good time.
I’m not an outlaw, but I play one on TV.
Zion Canyon National Park, where they filmed most of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), is remarkable. It was called Mukuntuweap by the Paiute. It’s a privilege to safely wander among giant mountains and listen to birds. I felt small, but not small in the way other humans can make me feel small.
For the Mormons who colonized the canyon valley, and in doing so monopolized the water sources for their irrigation systems and overgrazed the land to the point of infertility, Zion is, “where individuals share all things and live in harmony under the direction of God.”
It’s a beautiful sentiment. (As most sentiments are.)

This week, the Ohio Senate will discuss whether to replace the 100+ year old Public Library Fund (a percentage of Ohio’s budget) with a lump sum which will amount to a loss of $90 million for Ohio libraries.
The Ask: KEEP the Public Library Fund as a percentage of Ohio’s budget, as proposed by Governor Mike DeWine, so that Ohio libraries can continue to grow with their communities.
